State employment verification law takes effect July 1

The new regulations require employers to verify residency of new employees within five days of hiring them by either submitting information to the federal E-Verify system or proving to the S.C. Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation that the employees already have, or could legally obtain, a S.C. driver's license.
