Nation Switch to Digital TV Delayed
As a result of concerns that many viewers are not technically ready for the congressionally-mandated switch-over, a bill was passed in the senate on Monday to delay the nationwide switch.
According to an article published by Reuters, an estimated 20 million Americans, mostly poor and/or elderly, who dnot afford to purchase a converter box over a new TV set received coupons from the government. But after government officials ran out of coupons last month, 2.5 million of those needing converters went on a waitlist.
Pleased with the delay because of economic hardship on millions, West Virginia democrat John Rockefeller said that the senate acted responsibly
