From the Politico article: After years as the compliant neighbor to the south — coping with the Bush administration’s benign neglect despite rampant illegal immigration and drug trafficking — Mexico is emerging as a focus of concern for the Obama administration because of recent surges in drug-fueled violence, cross-border weapons trafficking, gruesome beheadings and other signs of unrest and corruption.
