Movies at the Museo Alameda

Free and open the public

“From Florida to Coahuila,” and the “Forgotten Root,” are two documentaries by acclaimed Mexican filmmaker Rafael Rebollar Corona which explore the untold story of the African presence in Mexico.  Filmed on both sides of the border, “From Florida to Coahuila,” documents the migrations of black Seminoles from Florida to Mexico in the mid-1800’s and the efforts of their descendants to maintain their culture across national boundaries.  The forgotten root, explores the larger influence of African culture across Mexico and works toward a reconciliation of those African roots that been forgotten for too long.
